Understanding Homelessness & Our Response
-
The St. Louis City Continuum of Care is a collaborative network of nonprofit organizations, government agencies, housing providers, and community partners working together to prevent and end homelessness. The CoC helps coordinate the community's response, improve access to services, and strengthen pathways to permanent housing.
-
People experiencing homelessness can connect with designated access points through the Coordinated Entry process, which helps assess their needs and identify available housing resources. Those needing immediate shelter can also access local emergency assistance services.
-
Coordinated Entry is a community-wide process that helps connect people experiencing homelessness with appropriate housing assistance. It includes assessment, prioritization, and referrals based on individual needs and available resources.
-
During dangerous winter weather, the City of St. Louis activates an emergency response that may expand shelter capacity, warming spaces, outreach, and transportation. The City, CoC member organizations, and community partners work together to help people reach safety.
-
You can support local service providers, volunteer with community organizations, advocate for housing solutions, and participate in CoC meetings or initiatives. Ending homelessness requires coordinated community action.
