Gateway Housing First
Gateway Housing First, Inc. is dedicated to providing safe, high-quality, affordable, and supportive housing to individuals and families facing disabilities, complex disorders, and challenging life situations, often compounded by chronic homelessness, generational poverty, trauma, and systemic racism.
Our CoC-funded programs include:
Nathaniel Rivers PSH: A permanent supportive housing project with 32 units at Nathaniel Rivers Place, offering 24-hour behavioral health services through Places for People.
GHF Housing for the Future of Families PSH: A leasing project for chronically homeless families, focusing on those with behavioral health and substance use disorders. As of November 1st, this program will expand into "Right to Home PSH," offering rental assistance to chronically homeless households, regardless of family status.
SZP Shelter Plus Care: A rental assistance program where the Department of Mental Health is the direct HUD recipient, with GHF as the sub-recipient, offering both site-based and tenant-based rental support.
Gateway Housing First is committed to increasing housing solutions for the most vulnerable in our region by eliminating barriers to housing readiness. We develop, own, and operate permanent supportive housing specifically designed for individuals experiencing long-term homelessness, many of whom have behavioral health disabilities. Our current portfolio includes 200 units across 10 communities, with an additional 100 households served through scattered site leasing programs, achieving a 98% housing stability rate among our tenants.
We also focus on enhancing care coordination among service providers, advocating for systems change to improve harm reduction and housing first practices in supportive housing, and ensuring continued access to housing for individuals with disabilities.
